A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday, March 21, for the new $8 million U.S. VETS Prescott complex at 1040 Whipple St. in Prescott.
The four-building complex will include 150 units of new housing for homeless veterans, including 76 beds for transitional living and studio apartments for single adults. Of those units, 15 will be transition-in-place apartments that will include a year’s worth of case management before tenants are able to live independently. The remainder will be priced affordable enough for those with federal subsidies.
The complex is also slated to include a commercial kitchen suitable for the agency’s culinary program; an on-site day center with counseling spaces for clients seeking employment and other services.
