HERE AT OUR HOUSTON LOCATION

Founded in 1997, U.S.VETS — Houston has three facilities, located at Midtown, Fannin Street and Downtown. The Midtown location is the main hub for the programs, supplemented by the service center located at the Historic DeGeorge at Union Station. The Fannin Street location provides administrative support and services.

Each month, U.S.VETS — Houston interacts with over 1,100 veterans and their families on an annual basis. U.S.VETS is a proud member of the Military Veteran Peer Network.

HOUSING

Veterans seeking housing should contact us to inquire about transitional and permanent housing, or our Supportive Services for Veteran Families program which assists low-income families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless find safe and affordable permanent housing.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Veterans in need of employment assistance or career counseling should contact us to inquire about our Career Development Initiative program (CDI) or the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP).These programs are designed to help veterans translate their military experience into civilian employment opportunities.

MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS

In addition to traditional mental health services such as individual and group counseling and substance use treatment, U.S.VETS — Houston runs a number of wellness activities including but not limited to sobriety groups, mentoring, and mindfulness activities as well as life skills classes.

This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families. For more information, visit www.TVC.Texas.gov.

INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT

U.S.VETS — Houston provides wraparound services structured to fit the needs of each person who needs them. Those services include but are not limited to case management, women’s programs, and aftercare services. Our Service Center also provides phone and email access, sack lunches, hygiene kits, and so much more.

GUITARS N’ CARS

Established in 2011 by U.S.VETS – Houston Advisory Council member Gordon Clunn of Clunn Acoustical Systems, Guitars N’ Cars highlights Houston’s love of classic cars, live music, and our nation’s veterans who fought so bravely in service to our country. This event has raised nearly $700,000 in support of veteran programs and services and all proceeds directly benefit U.S.VETS – Houston.

The 2022 airshow features the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, amazing civilian pilots, and the Guitars N’ Cars show with vintage and unique cars, music, vendors, sponsors, a silent auction, and more. In partnership with CAF Wings Over Houston Airshow and World Famous Fuller Guitars, Guitars N’ Cars engages a community of supporters and veterans in an effort to raise critical funds for U.S.VETS’ mission to end veteran homelessness in the United States!
