The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce has selected U.S.VETS – Las Vegas as its 2022 Nonprofit of the Year, recognizing its commitment to ending veteran homelessness.
“We’re honored to receive this accolade on behalf of our team who serve our veterans every single day, helping them move into permanent supportive housing and access the services they need to get back on their feet,” said Executive Director Shalimar Cabrera.
U.S.VETS provides housing, career development, counseling and individualized support including case management to homeless and at-risk veterans and their families. The Las Vegas site serves over 400 veteran households every year.
The award, which carries a $2,500 honorarium, recognizes nonprofits focused on supporting, connecting and providing resources to residents and businesses, and exemplifies the tenet of “doing well by doing good” within the Nevada community. The honor is presented at the Chamber’s Military Affairs Committee (MAC) Night Out, which pays tribute to service members from Nellis and Creech Air Force bases.
