WHO WE ARE

For 30 years, U.S.VETS has worked to get veterans off the streets.

As the largest non-profit organization with boots on the ground to combat America’s veteran homeless crisis head-on, U.S.VETS serves more than 5,500 veterans and families across the country each night, providing housing, mental health programs, career services and comprehensive support. U.S.VETS was founded in 1993 by the late Judge Harry Pregerson to address the growing number of unsheltered veterans living on the streets of Los Angeles. Starting with one site in Inglewood, California, U.S.VETS has expanded to 40 residential and service sites in 18 locations across the country, helping veterans and their families successfully transition to civilian life.

The Need

Today in the United States, about 33,000 veterans experience homelessness, accounting for approximately 7 percent of all homeless adults. Nearly 76 percent of them experience alcohol, drug or mental health issues.
